TWO York artists, potter Trudy Weir and painter Richard Barnes, are holding a joint exhibition at Pocklington Arts Centre until July 16.
Trudy hand-crafts non-functional ceramic pieces, using different stoneware clay laminated together and either stretched or sliced, sometimes with the application of coloured slips.
The minimum of glaze is applied to the work and often none at all, and her original decorative patterns create a textural surface unique to each piece.
Richard’s work takes on a multitude of settings, from the beauty of wild and windswept Yorkshire landscape to the energy and visual excitement of cityscapes, especially of York and in particular the Minster.
At present he is exploring the possibilities and vivid impact of digital intervention in traditional painting practice.
All artworks are for sale; entry to the exhibition is free and opening hours are Tuesday, 10am to 5pm, Thursday, 10am to 1pm, Friday, 10am to 4pm, and Saturday, 10am to 1pm.
