Bar Lane Studios’ graduate artist interns will unveil an exhibition to commemorate their year in residence at the York creative hub this evening at 6pm.
The group, comprising five artists and a theatre company, were the first set of York St John University arts graduates to take up residence at Bar Lane after it opened last year.
The university-funded internship scheme provides graduates with studio spaces, exhibition opportunities, work experience and professional mentoring to help them establish fledgling creative businesses.
Now, as they near the end of their year’s residence, the group are mounting their showcase exhibition in Bar Lane’s main gallery.
Diverse artists Jade Blood, Susanne Davies, Matt Durrant, Tom Hodgson and Catherine Scriven will display vibrant new artworks and all-female theatre company Six Lips – Anna Rose James, Roxanna Klimaszewska and Hannah Wallace – will perform a new piece devised for opening night.
The exhibition will run from tonight’s preview until next Saturday and is open to all art lovers.
