A ONE-OFF screening of the first feature-length film by rock legend Dave Grohl will be held at a York cinema next week.
Grohl, lead singer of Foo Fighters and former drummer in legendary grunge band Nirvana, has made his directing debut with Sound City, a documentary focused on the famed American recording studio of the same name.
Classic albums by the likes of Fleetwood Mac, Neil Young and Tom Petty were created at Sound City and Grohl’s film will look at its halcyon days and feature interviews with artists who recorded there, including Sir Paul McCartney, as well as looking at how digital recording technology has changed the music business and the way musicians work.
Vue York, at Clifton Moor, will have an exclusive screening of Sound City through 4K projectors at 8pm on Monday, and tickets are now on sale at myvue.com/special-events
