ZAC Efron stars in the Monday Special film, the 2013 American thriller Parkland (15), at City Screen, York, on January 20 at 6.30pm.
Efron is joined by Billy Bob Thornton, Paul Giamatti and Marcia Gay Harden in Peter Landesman’s examination of President John F Kennedy’s assassination, which focuses on the ordinary people suddenly thrust into extraordinary circumstances on November 22 1963: medics, workers and bystanders.
The Discover Tuesdays choice for January 21 is Lucien Castaing Taylor and Verena Paravel’s Leviathan (12A) at 6.15pm.
The rough Atlantic waters that inspired Herman Melville’s Moby Dick has given rise to a rather different beast in this bracing cinematic voyage into uncharted documentary territory.
Blurring the boundaries of non-fiction filmmaking, Castaing-Taylor and Paravel create a visceral, primal and sensuous representation of life aboard a New England fishing boat.
