YORK teenage singer-songwriter Taz Barnes is to perform in front of a capacity crowd at the Soundwave Music Competition grand final on January 26.

Taz has been invited to play on Newcastle O2 Academy’s main stage and is excited at the opportunity to sing where the likes of Adele, Arctic Monkeys and The Enemy have gone before. The Soundwave Music Competition offers unsigned acts the chance to win prizes and gain exposure to assist in furthering their careers. Acts such as Taz were scouted through a series of auditions that took place in front of industry judges.

The winning act can look forward to a full day’s recording at a professional recording studio, radio airtime, press coverage, magazine interviews and photo shoots. Taz, who is studying music at The Jam Factory in York, will release his new single on February 5, and you can check him out at soundcloud.com/taz-barnes

Tickets for the 6pm event on January 26 are available at o2academynewcastle.co.uk or by phoning 0844 477 2000.
