Ed Harcourt – or Harcourt-Smith to give him his full surname – will be at the National Centre for Early Music on June 10.
He will precede a dozen May and June dates with the March release of his single Hey Little Bruiser on CCCLX, the independent label set up by Sean Adams, founder of Drowned In Sound.
This piano-led ode to his son, Franklyn, features guest violin from Ed’s wife, Gita Harcourt, and delivers the standout line “You got the good bits from your mother and the bad parts from me,” in typically self-deprecating fashion. Before then comes Harcourt’s new album, Back Into The Woods, recorded in six hours at the Abbey Road studios for issue on February 25.
Joined by Catherine A.D. as support act, Harcourt will bring the album to life on his tour of English churches and concert halls, including the York date on June 10, taking place at the NCEM but organised by The Duchess venue.
Harcourt has not toured York since 2007 when he performed a “Best Of” show at Fibbers to mark his adieu from EMI.
Tickets cost £12.50 online at edharcourt.com
