PIANIST Nikki Iles joins the University of York Jazz Orchestra in the intimate setting of the Rymer Auditorium in the Heslington campus’s department of music on March 1.
Iles is a bandleader, composer and educator, as well as a “pianist of extraordinary imagination", who last February released the Nikki Iles Trio album Hush, recorded with Rufus Reid and Jeff Williams.
Her smooth and cosy evening of jazz in York involves her joining members of the University Jazz Orchestra to perform music in smaller ensembles to complement the setting.
