SHED Seven will play a home-city gig at York Barbican on December 13 as part of a 13-date Greatest Hits Live tour.
Tickets for the Sheds’ first full-scale British travels in two years go on sale tomorrow at 9am online at gigsandtours.com and yorkbarbican.co.uk and on the 24-hour hotline 0844 811 0051 and 0844 854 2757.
Rick Witter, Paul Banks, Tom Gladwin, Joe Johnson and Alan Leach will be reviving such anthems as Going For Gold, Disco Down and Chasing Rainbows, bolstered by a selection of fans’ favourites.
Formed in 1990, the Sheds have released four studio albums, notched up 14 Top 40 singles and celebrated the 15th anniversary of A Maximum High, in 2011 by releasing a collector’s edition EP of new versions of tracks from their 1996 landmark second album.
They first reformed in 2007 for a 20-date tour and have continued to sell out shows across Britain, usually favouring December for tours to complement summer festival appearances.
This winter’s tour follows last year’s appearances at T in the Park and V festival and a short run of intimate gigs last December.
Front man Rick Witter, who turned 40 last November, says: “The Sheds are pleased to announce that we’ll be touring again this year in the run-up to the Christmas holidays.
“We’ve still got it, so yeah, we’re gonna flaunt it... It’s a great time to play and to be honest December wouldn’t be the same without a Sheds gig, would it? We’re looking forward to playing once more for our ever-loyal following. See you down the front.”
