A NEW community choir has been launched in York.
The Belfrey Singers rehearses in the Belfrey Hall, off Stonegate, on Friday evenings. Members are preparing for a summer concert on July 19.
Musical director Caroline Challis said she hoped to “create a high-quality city-centre choir which will bring local people together”.
The choir welcomes anyone over the age of 18 and encourages all young people with a passion for music to consider signing up.
Funding has been secured from O2’s Think Big project, which aims to support youngsters in their pursuit of positive influence in their local communities.
The new choir’s repertoire ranges from sacred and classic to gospel and pop arrangements.
