BARNSLEY guitar band Exit Calm follow up the January 20 release of new single Promise by playing The Duchess in York on January 28.
Promise is a psychedelic spaced-out trip lifted from the South Yorkshiremen’s album of epic-sized rock, The Future Isn’t What It Used To Be.
Exit Calm combine the haunting guitar work of Rob Marshall with the raw, compelling vocals of Nicky Smith on such numbers as the baggy-meets-grunge anthem The Rapture, the breakbeat fury of Albion and melodic grooves of Fiction.
Joined in the four-piece line-up by bassist Simon Lindley and drummer Scott Pemberton, they list their influences as three labels: the swaggering Creation Records, the hedonistic Factory Records and the progressive Mo Wax.
Exit Calm also will play London, Manchester, Glasgow and Nottingham on their early 2014 travels. York box office: theduchessyork.co.uk
