A NEW festival of chamber music is coming to York next month.
York Chamber Music Festival is the idea of York-born cellist Tim Lowe, 28, a former York Minster chorister who is guest principal of the English Chamber Orchestra and a teaching professor at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
Among the musicians performing during the festival from February 13 to 16, is violinist Jennifer Pike, who won the BBC Young Musicians competition in 2002 at the age of 12, and is in demand as soloist around the world. She will be playing at the Sir Jack Lyons Concert Hall at the University of York.
Many of the events are free. Tickets for Jennifer Pike’s recital are £15 and for other recitals are £12, with concessions available. They can be obtained from the National Centre for Early Music, in Walmgate, by phoning 01904 658338, or emailing boxoffice@ncem.co.uk
