THE Jesus And Mary Chain are to play the Leeds O2 Academy on February 17 next year after the re-formed Scottish band announced further dates to mark the 30th anniversary of their ground-breaking debut album, Psychocandy.
Last night, Jim and William Reid performed the first of their Psychocandy shows at the London Troxy in a sold-out tour that will be backed up by ten shows in 2015 at the start of a year of activity not only celebrating 30 years of Psychocandy but also looking ahead to the future. More Mary Chain news will follow soon.
As the Reids crank up the trademark guitar feedback once more, Jim says: “Psychocandy was meant to be a kick in the teeth to all of those who stood in our way at the time, which was practically the whole music industry. In 1985 there were a great many people who predicted no more than a six-month life span for the Mary Chain."
Tickets for February 17 are on sale at £25 online at gigandtours.com and gigsinscotland.com
