CO CO And The Butterfields are to step in for Vin Garbutt at Howden Live’s concert on Saturday.
Vin has been forced to pull out through illness, but the Co Co acoustic five-piece have agreed to fill the gap in the diary with their energetic combination of powerful vocals, beatbox rhythms, folk-pop and hip hop, as witnessed at this year’s Beverley Folk Festival.
All previously buskers, the spirit of jamming together and combining styles comes naturally to beat-boxer Jamie and founder band members Tom and Dulcima, who first invited him to provide percussion in 2012.
The band quickly grew into a five-piece with Micah and Handsome Rob learning new instruments to extend the sound, and they duly pioneered “Fip Fok”, going on to share bills with Bastille, Wheatus, Seasick Steve and The Pogues while gathering a loyal Howden Live following.
This year, Co Co performed three slots at Glastonbury in their first visit there and now they are back at the Howden Shire Hall.
Tickets cost £12.50 from Touchwood in Howden, on 01430 431535 or at howden-live.com
