"I WISH that I could see you soon, " sing Herman Dune on the uplifting first single off their new album, Giant. Well, now you can. Herman Dune are playing the Brudenell Social Club in Leeds on Sunday.
Meanwhile, go here for possibly the sunniest, happiest, sweetest video of the year so far:
http: //www.youtube.com/watch? v=unc_GV4MeSs"It's strange how you could get so much happiness out of a song you wrote when you were sad, " says Herman Dune's David Ivar, describing I Wish That I Could See You Soon, a paean in the Jonathan Richman mode that charts the euphoria and uncertainty of a new love.
"It was a very fun song to play by myself already, but then we got to the studio in Wales, near Snowdon, and there it was much more fun even, with the Woo-Woos singing the question part in the chorus and the bongos and everything. I'd dreamed of a horn section for years, and this is the first song of mine I'd ever recorded with one. It really was like getting on the other side of some movie screen, like diving into the sounds I'd heard growing up or something."
I Wish That I Could See You Soon is released on Monday.
