AFTER their successful Girl Power Mini-Fest in March, the team behind York’s Little Festival of Live Music is seeking 28 acts to join the main festival line-up this autumn.

Co-ordinated by director Ellen Cole, the festival will run from September 22 to 24 and September 27 to 30 alongside the York Food and Drink Festival in Parliament Street, York.

To apply to be part of the 2017 festival, email yorkslivemusicfestival@gmail.com with information about your act, your availability during the festival, as well as providing links to your music. The deadline is 5pm on May 30 and all acts will receive a response by June 30.

Since its formation in 2013, the Little Festival has enabled 135 musicians to showcase their work and provided 135 hours of live music, going from strength to strength each year.

"The ethos behind the festival is to offer an inclusive family-friendly event, which has something for everyone to enjoy," says Ellen. "Many of the acts have gone on to do national tours with other musicians who they've met through the festival, or had their first experience on live radio, as well as having the opportunity to showcase their work to an appreciative audience."

Assessing the festival's greatest strength, Ellen says: "The beauty of our event is that we welcome applications from all types of musicians, regardless of genre of music played, experience, social media following or if you have a long-standing or little reputation. We want our audiences to discover a broad range of talent and we firmly believe that we provide the perfect platform from which to showcase a musician’s work.”

Among the talent that took part in past years are country, folk and pop performer Gracie Falls, winner of the UK Unsigned Songwriter of the Year competition; East Yorkshire folk musician Edwina Hayes, who has played alongside Van Morrison; former Mostly Autumn lead singer Heather Findlay; Londoner Joel Sarakula; harmonic Cleckheaton indie group Dear Friends; Newcastle country and folk group Gilded Thieves and York acts Boss Caine, Laura Kindelan, Vesper Walk, Barcode Zebra, The Blueprints and Bull.

This community music festival raises funds for York community groups and charities. For more information, visit facebook.com/YorksLittleFestivalOfLiveMusic or follow the festival on twitter.com/live_music_fest
