Graham Gouldman admits his 10CC show at Harrogate International Centre on Monday will not be "really much different" from his band's March appearance at the Grand Opera House, York.
"It's almost like a continuation of the spring tour, but there is one change in personnel as Mike Stevens is Take That's musical director so they've taken him away, " says Graham. "I think they pay him more, though I reckon his heart is with us."
In comes Keith Hayman to contribute to live renditions of such 10CC staples as I'm Not In Love, Things We Do For Love, Art For Art's Sake and Rubber Bullets.
"He's a fantastic keyboard player, and with the music we're playing, you've got to be good otherwise you just wouldn't cut it, " says Graham.
"It's complicated music: we took a lot of time writing it and I've always believed the songs played live should be as close to the original as possible, though we may extend the intro and outro. But technology has improved since 10CC recorded those songs and we do use those improvements."
No longer performing with Eric Stewart, Kevin Godley or Lol Crème, Graham Gouldman is now the bearer of the 10CC torch.
"Our mission, our purpose, is to keep the music of 10CC alive in concert, and this is the only way you're going to see it. Though I do know there was a tribute band at one time because I was sent an address when the group was looking for a bass player, " Graham says. "I was tempted to go along, but I probably wouldn't have got the job."
10CC featuring Graham Gouldman and Friends, Harrogate International Centre, Monday, 8pm. Tickets: £28.50 on 0845 130 8840.
