Robots In Disguise know how to catch the eye.
The electro-pop London duo of Dee Plume and Sue Denim announced their arrival with the hedonistic single The Sex Has Made Me Stupid, and if you look closely at the skinny-mini shirts and ties in their publicity spots, the girls are naked but for a layer of skilfully applied body paint.
On February 4, they launch their third album, We're In The Music Biz, and they play Fibbers on Monday evening.
"We like to subvert people's expectations of us as a band and have a bit of fun with it, " says agent provocateuse Dee.
"People have seen those pictures and it's so unexpected that they've not even clocked it, " says Sue.
Produced by Chris Corner in Berlin, We're In The Music Biz finds the Robots developing their signature sound and straight-talking lyrics with added sharpness.
Welcoming Dee and Sue to York, Fibbers boss Tim Hornsby says: "Disguised as girl-humans, these Glamour Girls deliver their intergalactic trip-hop funk punk message to the world with megaphones, recorders, aerobic guitar solos and grooving bass lines that dance over anthemic lyrics and pogo electro beats - and live they rock. The stage is their playground."
Tickets: £8 advance, £9 door.
