THE John Taylor Trio pays tribute to the late American author Kurt Vonnegut in Requiem For A Dreamer at the Sir Jack Lyons Concert Hall, University of York, on Wednesday at 7.30pm.
The latest project for jazz pianist John Taylor, bass player Palle Danielsson and drummer Martin France is a specially-commissioned suite that takes its name from an imagined conversation between the author and Kilgore Trout, a fictitious writer created by Vonnegut.
The trio will be joined by Julian Arguelles on saxophone for this work and new pieces by Taylor from the trio's album, Whirlwind, released on the CamJazz label.
The cover may look familiar to York residents as it features a painting by artist Heather Niven, bought by Taylor after seeing an exhibition of her work at the university, where he teaches music.
Tickets £15, on 01904 432439.
