CULT San Diego slackers Trumans Water cross the pond to play Fibbers, York, on Thursday.
"Inspired by Pavement, Captain Beefheart and The Fall, these indie darlings have adapted the musical term 'squigglycore': old-skool hardcore meets old-skool punk in a backstreet garage recorded in one take on a crappy cassette-recorder, " says Fibbers boss Tim Hornsby.
The band's breakthrough album carries the title of Spasm Smash XXXOXOX Ox And Ass. "Counting Sonic Youth, Beck and Stereolab as devotees, they're so lo-fi it's silly, " says Tim. " Now with a fourth member, they're still a law unto themselves, capturing the spark of early punk but avoiding retrogression by cranking up weirdness levels and ditching all the corny stuff."
- Tickets: £7.50 advance, £9 door.
