ONLY four days after the release of their new album Serotonin, Mystery Jets made a special and eagerly- awaited appearance at Fibbers.

Long gone are the rat-tail haircuts and smart clothes, replaced by a more relaxed and slightly student-esque look.

However much as they have tried to tone down their image, the music and lyrics they produce still remain in full swing.

With sweat pouring from the ceiling and what felt like an illegal temperature, they played a mixture of tracks from Twenty One and the newest of the bunch, Serotonin.

Support came from Club Smith, a local band with catchy lyrics and a melodic edge. Their set was strong and refreshing and loved by their audience.

Following a wait of about an hour, the head-lining London quartet took to the stage much to the delight of their eager York fans. They kicked off their set with songs from second album Twenty One. Veiled In Grey, Young Love and Two Doors Down really got the atmosphere off to a fine start while the more chilled-out and relaxed Melt, Lorna Doone and Miracle caught the crowd’s attention and the love for the underrated band and one another became apparent. Mystery Jets definitely brought excitement and quality music to Fibbers, which was expected, but as all great bands do, they brought that little bit extra.
