Voices Of The English National Opera will perform at St Helen’s and All Saints Church, Wykeham, near Scarborough, on August 14.
Four ENO soloists, soprano Clare Mitcher, mezzo soprano Deborah Davison, tenor Ben Kerslake and bass baritone Andrew Tinkler, will be accompanied by pianist Simon Haynes in a 6.30pm programme entitled Ensemble And Songs From Every Era.
Churchwarden Robert Sword says: “This church is well known for its fine acoustics but possibly less well known for its romantic history: it was commissioned in 1855 by the 7th Viscount Downe to help secure the hand in marriage of his future wife, the daughter of a bishop. So this is a fitting setting for an evening of superb music.”
Tickets are available at £15 from The Estate Office, Wykeham, or on 01723 866600 or via e-mail to e.welbourn@dawnay.co.uk
All proceeds will go towards the upkeep of the church.
