YOUNGSTERS are being encouraged to come and make some noise at a music event tonight.
City of York Council’s Arts Action Team has invited anyone aged 13 to 18, who is interested in music, to see a community youth music group called Upfaders, from 7.30pm to 9pm.
A spokeswoman said it would be a unique night of high quality DJs and MCs at the Basement Bar, City Screen, to celebrate the release of the new Upfaders’ vinyl.
She said: “The aim of the Upfaders music initiative is to increase access to music opportunities through an outreach programme and a 16-week music production and performance programme.
“This event is the culmination of the third Upfaders music production programme showcasing music created and produced by the Upfaders youth music group.”
Dave Fleming, Arts Action Officer, said: “The last 16 weeks have been an amazing journey. They have learned so much, from music production, composition DJ skills and MC-ing.
“All this hard work has really paid off and now they can actually create live DJ mixes of their own music. That’s quite special and I am really proud of them.”
