Take your pick from Paolo Nutini at York Barbican tonight; Jon Fratelli of the Fratelli Brothers at Fibbers, Adam Ant at the Duchess or Jane McDonald at the Barbican tomorrow; Fun Lovin’ Criminals at Fibbers or Cara Dillon at the Duchess on Sunday.
County Derry folk singer Cara won the All Ireland Traditional Singing Trophy aged 14, since when she has sung with Oige, De Dannan and Equation and released four solo albums.
The latest came in 2009, Hill Of Thieves, the first release on the Charcoal label that she formed with partner Sam Lakeman. Last year, there was an addition to their own clan, baby Elizabeth, born on October 12.
Last year too, Cara issued a DVD, Live At The Grand Opera House, an acoustic recording of Hill Of Thieves’ songs in Belfast, where the stellar traditional musicians featured on the album gathered for one night only in September 2009.
