MISTY Miller so mesmerised The Band Room promoter Nigel Burnham at her City Screen gig in York that he promptly booked the 17-year-old Wimbledon singer-songwriter for the Low Mill venue, where she plays tomorrow night.
“She’s here sooner rather than later because we think she’s going to be huge,” says Nigel. “Not only an accomplished writer and ukulele player but also a great singer, she’s the missing link between Laura Marling and Mumford & Sons and will be filed next to Ms Marling, Alessi’s Ark, Katie Melua, Polly Scattergood, Amy Macdonald and Rumer, though you could even hear Marilyn Monroe somewhere in the mix.”
Tonight’s support act on the 7.30pm bill will be Tom and Will from the Huddersfield band Maia, who return to Low Mill after opening for Anais Mitchell.
The original headline act for tomorrow's gig, Hiss Golden Messenger, now will play The Band Room on October 8, sharing that show with William Tyler of Lambchop.
