Yorkshire’s “funkiest family-friendly festival”, Limetree in Grewelthorpe, near Ripon, is doubling in size in its fourth year to allow 2,000 people to attend from August 26 to 28.

Spread over five stages, the festival embraces global jazz, soul, funk, dubstep and folk artists, bands and DJs, and has introduced two new stages: JB’s World Music Stage and Yorkshire Gig Guide’s small acoustic stage, run by pedal power.

The main Green Man stage plays host to debut Limetree performances by ethnic eletronica exponents Transglobal Underground, The Fantastics, Mercury-nominated jazz singer Carleen Anderson and Krystle Warren’s compound of jazz, blues, folk, funk and pop.

The Jason Rae stage brings new and unsigned bands from across Britain and beyond, taking in China Shop Bull with their blend of ska and drum’n’bass, punk from Captain Hotknives and Yorkshire indie from Leonards Revenge and The Secret Sirens.

Further highlights will be Celt Islam in the dance tent, 18-year-old soul singer and songwriter Jasmine Kennedy, folk duo O’Hooley & Tidow and the acoustic soul of Extracurricular’s Ruby & Noah.

Organised by Sean and Karen Birdsall, the festival takes places at Lime Tree Farm, in Hutts Lane, Grewelthorpe, a spiritual sanctuary complete with nature reserve, roundhouse and stone circle. For the first time, an astronomy area will offer workshops for children and the chance to view the night sky using telescopes in interactive workshops.

Festi4 will be running a shuttle bus service from Ripon, as well as a dedicated coach from Leeds.
