JULABA Kunda, a combination of Juldeh Camara from Gambia and Gris Sanderson from Scotland, will play the National Centre for Early Music, York, tonight.
The 7.30pm concert is a rare chance to hear singer, titi, kiloko and talking drum player Juldeh and fiddle, nyckelharpa and bodhran player Gris performing music from their debut album Traders.
Expect an extraordinary musical encounter, where the desert sounds of West African riti, a one-stringed fiddle of ancient design, meets its European sisters, the fiddle and the Swedish nyckelharpa, as the snaking Fula trance melodies from the Sahel's nomadic herdsmen join tumbling strathspeys and reels from Scottish crofts and dance halls.
Tickets are on sale on 01904 658338 or on the door.
