IN their 59th year, The Drifters are playing 70 British dates on their Masquerade Tour, destined for the Grand Opera House in York tonight.
The present recording line-up of the American singing group will be performing six decades of material, as heard on last year’s Up On The Roof album, which combined old Drifters hits with new numbers.
Expect to hear Under The Boardwalk, Like Sister And Brother, Saturday Night At The Movies, Save The Last Dance For Me and On Broadway once more at 7.30pm.
“We’re very excited about the Masquerade Tour,” said group member Michael Williams. “The Drifters’ music is very uplifting and upbeat and many people come to the shows night after night for that real feelgood factor.
“The idea of the Masquerade Tour is that it’s just one big party from start to finish, so we’re hoping that everyone will get on their dancing shoes and come and join the party! There are also some real surprises in the set alongside the old favourites.”
