YORK community choice Millegro will be mixing up the styles in their latest concert. The performance, entitled Classic Meets Jazz, is at 7.30pm at St Michael Le Belfrey church, next to York Minster, next Saturday, June 23.
The choir promises a diverse concert of classical, Latin American and jazz choral music, with a tribute to the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
The music will include pieces by Whitacre, Ames, Mocnik, Piazzolla, ZR Stroop, Vivaldi, Seiber and more, complemented by choral arrangements of jazz standards by Henry Mancini, Cole Porter, Duke Ellington, George Shearing and Gershwin.
Timea Kerekes will appear on viola, while Buffy Breakwell will play the saxophone.
Tickets costs £10, concessions £7, and are available from York Theatre Royal box office on 01904 623568 or at yorktheatreroyal.co.uk. They will also be available on the door from 7pm. Programme sales will be in support of Jessie’s Fund.
