CLASSICAL guitarist Richard Durrant returns to York tomorrow for a solo concert at the National Centre for Early Music.
The 7.30pm performance forms part of the northern leg of a British tour of The Number 26 Bus To Paraguay, a show that concentrates on Durrant’s recent adventures in the South American country.
Based on his own, inspiring, story, it tells of a young boy who travelled by bus to his first guitar lessons and was later invited to Paraguay to celebrate the centenary of his musical hero, composer Augustin Barrios.
That journey is reflected in a programme of music by Barrios, Django Reinhardt, Bach and Durrant himself, with some musical surprises along the way.
Durrant plays York after launching his latest album, Hijo de Hombre, with concerts in Buenos Aires, Asuncion and London.
Tickets cost £12, concessions £10, students £5, on 01904 658338 or online at ncem.co.uk
