ONE of the last original Sun rockabilly stars, Rayburn Anthony, will be the special guest at the York Rock’n’Roll Club night at the Post Office Social Club, Marygate York, on June 30.
“This is a very rare appearance in the UK for Rayburn,” says club organiser Dave Williamson. “He only has two dates here this year and one is in York.”
The veteran Tennessee musician is sharing next Saturday’s bill with Worcestershire band The Fireballs.
“They’re the fastest-rising rock’n’roll band on the UK circuit in 2012, with two brothers on lead guitar and rhythm and both are still only teenagers,” says Dave.
“They play British rock’n’roll at its best in the style of Johnny Kidd, Shane Fention, Cliff Richard and The Shadows.”
Flashback Billy will be in DJ action and tickets for this 7.30pm to 11.30pm gig cost £10 on 01904 690311 or 07761 729036.
