THE University of York Choir and Symphony Orchestra focus on two sacred works by composers much better known for their operatic work in Wednesday’s concert at York Minster.
Puccini’s Messa da Gloria and Verdi’s Quattro Pezzi Sacri provide a festive conclusion to the university’s 2011-2012 concert season, the two compositions having an operatic imaginative power and musical beauty the equal of their dramatic pieces. Soloists will be tenor Peter Davoren and bass Andrew Thompson and the conductor will be Peter Seymour. Tickets for the 7.30pm concert can be booked on 01904 322439 or online at YorkConcerts.co.uk
