THE Sunday afternoon jazz series at the National Centre for Early Music continues with Joe Stilgoe, son of songwriter Richard Stilgoe.
He is described as a serious musician having fun, and his singing, piano playing and sense of humour have made him a favourite at Britain’s top jazz clubs.
His formidable piano technique and vocal range stem from a classical training that started when he was five.
Joe released his debut album, I Like This One, last year and has drawn comparisons with singer/pianists such as Nat King Cole, Harry Connick Jr, Buddy Greco and Jamie Cullum.
• Joe Stilgoe, National Centre for Early Music, York, Sunday, 4pm. Tickets cost £10, concessions £8, students £5, on 01904 658338 or ncem.co.uk
