THE new MFest at Harewood House, Harewood, near Leeds, will combine music with comedy, children’s entertainment, sport and food tomorrow and Sunday. Heaven 17 will follow up their show in York tonight by playing the festival’s Big Top on the second day.
Fellow Sheffield electronic band The Human League will headline the M Stage that day; Texas will fill the top spot tomorrow.
Former Housemartins and The Beautiful South front man Paul Heaton will play both days, first performing The 8th, his new song cycle, and then leading the Paul Heaton Band on Sunday.
Saturday acts include Big Country; Beverley Knight; The X Factor 2010 winner Matt Cardle; Bob Geldof; The Blockheads; Secret Affair; Cher Lloyd; and York singer-songwriter Chris Helme.
Sunday’s line-up features Steps; Levellers; Scouting For Girls; Ali Campbell’s UB40; Inspiral Carpets; The Farm; Lee Thompson Ska Orchestra; The Crookes; The Heartbreaks; Mike Peters; Glen Matlock; Soul II Soul; The Pigeon Detectives; Sophie Ellis Bextor; and more besides.
The event will raise funds towards the £500,000 target for Morrisons’ charity, Raise A Smile, in aid of Save The Children.
