EMMERDALE soap star Adele Silva will appear in two shows in York before the year is out, one very naughty, the other awfully wicked.
The lads’ mag favourite has just signed up to play the lead in 51 Shades Of Maggie, Leesa Harker’s saucy send-up of the frisky frolics of EL James’s Fifty Shades Of Grey that began life as a blog that went viral before transferring to the stage.
After sold-out runs in Belfast, Dublin and Glasgow, the “funniest, sexiest (and maybe dirtiest) show of 2013” will be romping around 27 venues in England and Wales from September 10 to December 4, including York Barbican on September 16 and the Futurist Theatre, Scarborough on October 11 and 12.
The tour finishes in Southend, from where Adele must dash north for rehearsals for her role as the Wicked Queen in Simon Barry’s 15th York pantomime, Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs, from December 13 to January 5.
Best known for her feisty turn as Kelly Windsor in Emmerdale from 1993 to 2000 and again in 2005, Adele will play loveable Maggie Muff in Harker’s spoof tale of a search for love, 51 Shades Of Maggie.
Maggie is a working-class girl who, like most women, has been let down by all the men in her life. However, when attending an interview at the social security office, she meets the handsome and hunky Mr Big. Could he turn out to be the man of her dreams or will his Private Room of Pain put her off?
Maggie’s (slightly filthy) journey of love, booze and whips will be played out on a big, circular, high-backed, rotating bed and plenty of naughty bits are promised.
• Performances start at 7.30pm; tickets for York can be booked on 0844 854 2757 or at yorkbarbican.co.uk; Scarborough on 01723 374500. Please note, there is an age restriction of 16 and over.
