YORK Musical Theatre Company will stage Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Aspects Of Love with a cast of 28 at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre, York, from March 31 to April 5.
Director Paul Laidlaw has picked Matthew Ainsworth to play student Alex Dillingham, the demanding lead role that catapulted Michael Ball to fame in 1989.
Toni Feetenby has been cast as seductive actress Rose Vibert; Jessa Liversidge as Giulietta Trapani; company chairman Richard Bainbridge as George Dillingham; Eleanor Leaper as Jenny Dillingham and Mark Hall as Marcel Richard.
Further principal parts go to Jenny Cohen as Elizabeth; Larry Gibson as Jerome; Finlay Mooney as Hugo Le Meunier and Mike Wash as the Fairground Barker.
Aspects Of Love’s story of passion, love and loss across three generations of a family is set on the cobbled streets of Paris, in the mountains of the Pyrenees and in Venice.
At its centre is Alex Dillingham, a young student travelling through France, who falls in love with the alluring Rose Vibert. As the pair embark on a passionate affair, the unexpected arrival of Alex’s uncle, George, changes their lives forever.
Lloyd Webber’s musical premiered in the West End in 1989 and received six Tony Award nominations after opening on Broadway in 1990. The show has now been released to amateur companies, leading to this spring’s production in York.
