COPMANTHORPE playwright Peter Gordon’s Piggybank Theatre Company is teaming up with the British Heart Foundation in the fight against heart disease.

The York company is to perform Walk The Walk, Peter’s comedy about one man’s mission to complete his fourth Coast to Coast walk, joined by a strange assortment of fellow hikers. Comedy, catastrophe and despair will intertwine as the real reason for the journey unfolds.

“Piggyback is a voluntary, not-for-profit company and we’re delighted that all profits from our March and April performances of Walk The Walk will be donated to the British Heart Foundation,” says Peter, who is looking forward to staging the play in the round at “non-traditional venues” in York and beyond.

The itinerary will include two public performances at the Priory Street Centre, York on March 22 and April 12 from 7.30pm. Tickets cost £10 at piggyback.ticketsource.co.uk; a limited number are available at the York Care Volunteer Service reception at Priory Street during business hours.

Further York dates are a theatre and supper interval evening at Pike Hills Golf Club on March 21 and a theatre performance at Copmanthorpe Sports and Community Centre on April 4, raising funds for the BHF and the Copmanthorpe Carnival Fund.

Locations further afield will be Malton & Norton Golf Club, The KP Club in Kilnwick Percy, Pocklington and the Queens Sports Club in Halifax. For more information on these shows, visit piggybacktheatre.com Sharon Oakley, British Heart Foundation fundraising manager for York, says: “We’re delighted to be working with Peter Gordon and Piggyback Theatre Company and hope to raise as much money as possible to help fund the BHF’s research into heart disease.

“We hope club members and others turn out to support these shows, which promise an intimate and enjoyable evening of theatre.”

Peter Gordon’s plays have been presented in more than 1,200 professional and amateur productions worldwide, most successfully Third Week In August, Out Of Focus and his best known works, the Inspector Pratt trilogy.
