AUDITIONS are to be held on Sunday, March 30, for the York premiere of the Madness musical Our House, the 2014 Stage Experience summer-school show at the Grand Opera House.
Stage Experience is an intensive twoweek project for ten to 21 year olds, who will be directed by professional director and choreographer Louise Denison in her seventh year in this role, joined by returning musical director Adam Laird.
Built around the music and lyrics of Madness and a script by Tim Firth, Our House is the story of Joe Casey, who takes girl-of-his-dreams Sarah on their first date on the night of his 16th birthday.
In an effort to impress her with bravado, Joe breaks into a building site overlooking his home, owned by high-end property developer Mister Pressman. The police turn up, whereupon Joe’s life splits into two: the Good Joe, who stays to help, and Bad Joe, who flees.
The project will run from July 19, culminating in four performances from July 31 to August 2. As well as budding actors, Stage Experience welcomes young and aspiring theatre technicians, who will work with the professional team on sound, lighting, set, props and costumes.
