GLOBE-TROTTING Yorkshireman Michael Palin will present his new stage show, Travelling To Work, at the Grand Opera House, York, on Sunday, September 28.
In his two-part performance. The Monty Python humorist and BBC1 travel documentary presenter will mark the publication of his third volume of diaries of the same name by looking back at 25 years of exploring the world and nearly 50 in radio, television, books and film.
The first half will be a whistle-stop tour of the globe: his highlights and lowlights, adventures and cock-ups, beauties and beasts, wonders and wash-outs, all illustrated with photos and footage shot during Palin's eight travel series for the BBC that began with Around The World in Eighty Days.
In the second half, he will take a free-wheeling look back at the other side of his life: the love of comedy that took him from Sheffield schoolboy to Python's 2014 comeback at the O2 . He will reflect on the joy of writing and acting that has produced two novels and taken him from Python's dead parrot salesman and Ripping Yarns to the headmaster who fights back in GBH.
In a nutshell, expect lots of memories, with one thing in common. A love of laughter. Tickets for the 7.30pm show are on sale at £30.50 on 0844 871 3024 or at atgtickets.com/york
