YORK Musical Theatre Company is seeking "all those flappers and young boyfriends out there who want to join the company for another fun-packed and wonderful production" at York Theatre Royal.
Sandy Wilson's musical The Boy Friend will run from May 9 to 19, when the company swaps the cowboy hats and hoedowns of last spring's Oklahoma! for elegant suits and the Charleston in the swinging decade of the 1920s.
To attract potential new recruits to The Boy Friend, the company will hold an introductory evening at New Earswick Primary School on Tuesday, at 7.30pm.
"You can come along and hear about past productions such as Oklahoma! , Guys And Dolls and Cabaret; listen to music from The Boy Friend and learn about the characters; and chat to the director and musical director, Paul Laidlaw, " says Anna Mitchelson, company member and publicist.
"This is a great opportunity to meet members of the company and see what a thriving and fun company it is."
Details will be given of the auditions to be held on Sunday, February 11, from 10am, at New Earswick Primary School.
"So if you think you're a fun happy flapper, a French maid, a young man who wants to join a show brimming with girls from Madame Dubonnet's finishing school, or even if you just fancy a go at doing the Charleston, come along and join in, " says company chairman Jim Welsman.
Anyone who has a question about the introductory evening should phone Jim on 01904 704520.
