NORTHUMBERLAND Theatre Company will make their regular winter trip to Pocklington Arts Centre on January 2 next year as part of their tour of Rumpelstiltskin.
York playwright Mike Kenny's adaptation of the fairytale will be performed at 3pm by Nigel Collins, Umar Ahmed, Eleanor Dennison, Sam Gannon and NTC trainee Helen Cooper, who will combine storytelling and physical comedy with music.
“This adaptation by Olivier Award-winning children’s playwright Mike Kenny is written in his inimitable style," says the show's director, NTC artistic director Gillian Hambleton. "The story is told in witty rhyming couplets with songs and music and is a bit dark and scary, just as a good fairy tale should be.
"We’re delighted that thanks to the Boris Karloff Charitable Foundation, the Golsoncott Foundation and the Barbour Trust, we're able to take on board Northallerton trainee actress Helen Cooper for this tour, continuing our commitment to nurture and give opportunities to the next generation of actors and theatre professionals.”
Tickets cost £5.50 on 01759 301547 or at pocklingtonartscentre.co.uk
