NORTHERN Ballet are to soar into the night sky and on to the adventure of a lifetime in Peter Pan for the first time since 2010 in an exclusive run at Leeds Grand Theatre from tonight.
Choreographed by Northern Ballet artistic director David Nixon, this family ballet adaptation of JM Barrie’s tale of Wendy, John and Michael, Peter Pan and Tinkerbell takes audiences on a journey to a magical land of mermaids and fairies where children can fly and adventures happen every day.
Captain Hook and his dastardly pirates are looking for revenge on Peter Pan, who must battle to come out on top, while the life of his faithful sidekick, Tinkerbell, is put in danger and only the audience can save her.
Nixon is joined in his production team by Olivier Award-winning set designer Peter Mumford and Oscar-winning composer Stephen Warbeck for a show that promises "lashes of fairy dust, stunning dancing and death-defying flying stunts", as well as live music by Northern Ballet Sinfonia.
"Peter Pan, a story Barrie wrote for children, has made a far-reaching impact on the world, revealing and appealing to the child in all of us," says Nixon. "It is perfect entertainment for the entire family and an adventure in every sense of the word, incorporating flying dancers, a crocodile, mermaids and pirates."
