YORK Light Opera Company is to present My Fair Lady at York Theatre Royal from February 12 to 23 in a musical production adapted from George Bernard Shaw's play and Gabriel Pascal's motion picture Pygmalion.
The ever popular songs by Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe include I Could Have Danced All Night, On The Street Where You Live, With A Little Bit O'Luck and Wouldn't It Be Loverly?
Should you need a reminder, the story finds irascible phonetics professor Henry Higgins betting fellow linguist Colonel Pickering that he can train any woman to speak so properly that he could pass her off as a duchess. Step forward Cockney flower girl Eliza Doolittle.
