A Dreamcoat and Dreamboats are on the way to the Grand Opera House, York in quick succession this autumn.

Keith Jack, runner-up to Lee Mead in the BBC talent contest Any Dream Will Do, will play the title role in Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat from November 2 to 7.

Please note, the Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s musical will finish its latest return to York on a Sunday, such is the likely ticket demand for this perennially popular show. Performances will start at 7.30pm, Tuesday; 1.30pm and 7.30pm, Wednesday and Thursday; 5pm and 8pm, Friday; 2pm, 5pm and 8pm, Saturday; and 1pm and 4pm, Sunday.

A much newer West End hit, Dreamboats And Petticoats, will take over the Opera House stage the following week for its York debut. Inspired by the series of million-selling Dreamboats And Petticoats albums, the show is built around songs of the rock’n’roll era by Roy Orbison, The Shadows, Eddie Cochran, Billy Fury et al.

The storyline is set in 1961 when emotions run high as young musicians Norman and Bobby compete to win a national song-writing competition and, more importantly, the attention of the gorgeous Sue. Once Bobby discovers that shy Laura is no slouch on the piano, love and rock’n’roll roll fame beckon.

Tickets have gone on sale this week for the November 8 to 13 run of 7.30pm performances and 2.30pm Wednesday and Saturday matinees.
