What if the light in the moon went out one evening and you alone were responsible for finding a replacement bulb?
This is only the beginning of one very strange night, the night called LaLaLuna when the lunar caretaker struggles to re-light the darkened moon in a whimsical tale written and performed by Wolfe Bowart, international master of physical theatre.
In a surreal theatrical journey for adults and children alike, he interweaves circus and clowning with theatre and film in a joyful solo creation full of poetic and comic physicality.
LaLaLuna has travelled almost as far as the moon since its world premiere in the United States in 2005, heading to Australia in 2006, when Bowart earned the Best of the Fest prizes at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, the Adelaide Festival and Queensland’s Out of the Box Festival.
In 2007, the show had its British premiere at the Royal Festival Hall as part of the London International Mime Festival and in 2008 it premiered in Hong Kong, Greece, New Zealand and Brazil. Now Australian company Spoon Tree Productions are bringing it to York for two performances on Tuesday.
