CAST and crew gathered at York’s Theatre Royal to launch a new production of a literary classic.

Rehearsals began on Monday for the latest production of To Kill A Mockingbird, the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Harper Lee.

The play tells the story of Atticus Finch, a lawyer in America’s Deep South who defends a wrongly-accused man during a time of increased racial tension.

Duncan Preston, veteran of TV comedy Dinnerladies and recently of Emmerdale, will return to the role of Finch, five years after he previously tackling it at the West Yorkshire Playhouse in 2006.

The show will run at the Theatre Royal between Friday, February 11 and Saturday, February 26, before touring the UK.
