If you are a budding actor, aged over 18, here comes your chance to participate in York Theatre Royal’s In The Round ensemble season.

Ten young performers are needed to appear alongside the Theatre Royal company-in-residence Belt Up Theatre and the ensemble cast in Alan Bennett’s first play, the classroom comedy-drama Forty Years On, from Friday, September 23 to Saturday, October 15. Those selected from this month’s auditions must be available for all the performances and will join Belt Up’s actors in playing raucous sixth-form schoolboys.

Auditions will be held at the theatre from May 17 to 19 May between 5.30pm and 8pm; times will be allocated for your audition once numbers have been finalised.

As well as acting skills, the Theatre Royal is looking for musical talents, so applicants are asked to include details of their instrumental or singing prowess when sending an email to Belt Up director Alexander Wright at Alexander@beltuptheatre.com with their CV or expression of interest.

Written in 1968, Forty Years On is set in a public school, where the staff and students of the Albion House Dramatic Society are presenting Speak For England, Arthur, a rip-roaring revue featuring sketches, songs and dances that hark back to the announcement that the Second World War has broken out.
