YORK Theatre Royal is seeking budding young actors to perform in Damian Cruden’s in-the-round production of Peter Pan.
The artistic director is looking for two Wendys, three Michaels and three Johns to appear in rotation during the six-week run from Friday, July 29 to Saturday, September 3.
“This is a great chance to perform alongside the theatre’s ensemble cast and take part in a professional production,” says Damian, who will conduct auditions on Sunday, May 29.
JM Barrie’s Peter Pan is the latest children’s book to be adapted for the Theatre Royal by Mike Kenny, following on from E Nesbit’s The Railway Children in 2008 and Kenneth Grahame’s The Wind In The Willows last summer.
This time, Cruden’s production forms part of the seven-month In The Round Ensemble Season.
To audition for Wendy or John, you need to be aged 14 to 17; for Michael, boys aged ten to 13 can apply.
No experience is required, but a passion for acting is essential; you will be asked to read from the script at the audition.
Download the application from yorktheatreroyal.co.uk or phone 01904 658162 and ask for one. The deadline is Tuesday; if you are successful, the theatre will notify you of your audition time.
