Studio La Pointe Company, from Garforth, presents the fast-paced musical extravaganza Showstoppers at the Grand Opera House, York, at 2.30pm and 7.30pm today.
The show features musical theatre, pop and rock numbers and “a bit of fun as well”, performed by the stars of tomorrow from the West Yorkshire company.
Past performers to emerge from the SLP Company include former Emmerdale actress Verity Rushworth, who is at present starring in the lead role of Maria in the national tour of The Sound Of Music with Jason Donovan.
Two students from last year’s showcase, Danielle Steele and Lee Matthews, have progressed to major shows.
Danielle is under contract to start rehearsals in September to join the West End cast of Legally Blonde in October, from when she will be playing the sales woman and the judge, as well as ensemble roles and first cover for Pilar. Lee has secured first cover for Robin.
