Steve stayed with me after returning from Canada. After a short time, he returned to York. This was taken at Victoria Railway Station in Manchester. Of Steve catching the train to York. About 1970.

Steve stayed with me when he returned from Canada in 1970. Before that, we were great pals at school in Astley. Steve moved about a bit in the 1970s. He stayed in Cleveleys with his auntie, stayed in Leigh with my family, and lived to York for most of the time. One time as a disc jockey! In 1980, he secured a job as a trainee electrician in London. I met him there regularly. We lost touch in 1984. But in 2020, I found his address in York. Despite my many attempts to contact him there. It was not to be. RIP.

I knew Steve for a great many years both at school near to Leigh and for 15 years after he left school. He stayed at my house a number of times, after he moved to York and subsequently. We were best mates all through. A big part of each other's lives. I regularly visited him in York and he visited me near to Wigan. When he moved briefly to London, we also met there. He was such a big part of my life for all those years. We lost touch in the late 1980s, but I was told later he was still in York. I tried to contact Steve a number of times there, without success. I will miss him greatly. Rest in peace, "Spider" Widdowson. Dave Critch,
