Peter one from the famous 60s York stallholders Maureen and Geoff. One of six who did his degree in life before the age of sixteen washing celery in an ice cold bath in a yard of the notorious Walmgate at 4.30am at the age of 12. He then spent the rest of the day hiding from the school inspector who visited the stall regularly whilst him and the other siblings hid under the stall behind boxes of cox's apples.

Such was the start of a life of adventure banter tall stories lots of laughter and many smiles.

He served York people working Johnson and Elson Bishy Road, the Carriage Works and his taxi in the city centre where your journey wasnot complete without any one of the thousand songs he had stored on his memory sticks. He road with film stars, royalty and generous York people who made his life complete whilst at home waiting his return to his loving wife beautiful daughter and special grandchildren who benefit his hard work with lots of holidays abroad.

But it was whilst in the army supplying food in Ireland to the many soldiers who were picked off on a daily basis that we saw a strong character return to York.

He became a pillar you could rely on an ear that listened but above all this degree of life his market banter stories laughter and smiles shone through. Simply he was ageing with excitement devilment and his life skills which produced much laughter with the occasional pint.

So on the fifth of October, family and friends will remember along with thousands of York people a generous man who in his recent words "Has had a brilliant life".

On this day there will be tears, smiles laughter jokes and stories. We will be celebrating an amazing person who will never leave our hearts.

Oh don't forget he said " When you walk out of Crem I want I did it my way by Frank Sinatra"

Peter you got it

Love you always Simon, Felicity and Nicky Hodgson 😊😊xx
